New State Creation: Ohaji Leaders Meet With Sen. Izunaso

The Senator representing the Imo west ( Orlu senatorial Zone, Dist. Sen.Osita Izunaso has stated his good intentions regarding new state creation as it affects the position of Ohaji Nation .

Senator Izunaso while interacting with the Leaders of the Ohaji Nation told the gathering that he has no intention of including the Ohaji Nation in the proposed ANIM State against their wish but to follow the process that will give them added advantage while remaining in Imo state so as to avoid future for marginalization. He said that instead of commending his efforts to protect the Ohaji Nation ,certain Persons in Ohaji started to see his actions in a bad faith and chose to rush to the media with the intention to tarnishing his reputation.

He stated that as the Senator representing the 12 local governments of Orlu Zone , he stands in the position to understand the workings of the State Creation Committee.

He regretted that his image being tarnished does not encourage him to carry out purposeful negotiations for the People of Ohaji Nation even as they demand to remain in Imo State.

Senator Izunaso commended the Delegation which was Lead by Hon. Chief Goddy Esom Obodo, PhD for the efforts they are making to reposition and unite the people of Ohaji Nation and advised that since they want to remain in Imo state as against Anim State,they should be able to put a strong bargain and negotiate very well so as not to be marginalised in the state when finally created.

Responding, the Leader of the delegation Hon. Chief Goddy Esom Obodo PhD thanked Senator Izunaso for taking time to explain what would have seemed like a face off between him and some Ohaji people and praised his efforts at the national Assembly to give effective representation to his senatorial zone.

Hon. Chief Goddy Esom Obodo PhD emphasized on the need for an additional state to be created in the South East to equalize in the number of states in other geopolitical zones in the country and stated that the the People of Ohaji Nation should be left in present Imo state instead of ANIM State.

Dr Goddy Esom Obodo stated that the entire People of Ohaji Nation unequivocally wants to remain in the present Imo state and pleaded with Senator Izunaso to put all within his powers as our Senator not only that they wish of Ohaji Nation to remain in Imo is achieved but also to do a very strong bargain for us whenever the need arises.

The delegation was made up of the following persons , Chief Raymond Ogara , Hon. Kenneth Ekwueme. Hon. Damian Oparah. Hon. Davis Ogbuji, Barrister Ejike Esinkonye, Deacon Hilary Oguguo,(KDKD), Hon. Uchenna Erobiri, Hon Emma Omereji (Former Development Area coordinator , Ohaji West Development Area), Dr. Eugene Osimiri and a host of other Leaders.
