Uzodinma Bans ENTRACO Operations in Imo

By Duru Stanley…

Governor of Imo State, His Excellency Sen. Hope Uzodinma has banned the activities of the Imo State Environmental Transformation Commission (ENTRACO) even as he warned the public that the ban was not to a license for them to take traffic, environmental, and other laws into their hands as those found to be in violation of such laws will pay dearly for it.

In a release signed by the Commissioner for Information, Public Orientation and Strategy, Hon. Declan Emelumba E-copy made available to Newsday Express Newspaper news desk stated that the Governor has approved the immediate and indefinite suspension of all field operations of the Imo State Environmental Transformation Commission (ENTRACO) and any related task force until further notice.

The Commissioner in the release stated that Henceforth, any person or group of persons operating in the name or guise of ENTRACO or task force in any form or manner shall be liable for criminal conduct and visited with the full weight of the law.

Be added that the Governor has directed the Commissioner of Police to arrest and prosecute with precision anyone seen operating under the name or guise of ENTRACO, as well as members of any other task force found harassing and intimidating Imo citizens.

In another release signed by the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Oguwike Nwachuku, he attributed the reason for the ban to the incident that occurred in Owerri, linked to ENTRACO operations, which claimed the life of a person and left another in critical situation in the hospital.

According to the Chief Press Secretary, Governor Uzodimma said he was not unmindful of other recent ugly incidents where the mode of operations of ENTRACO was brought to question by members of the public.
