Imo Government Issues Final Demolition Order on Illegal Structures Along National Grid Corridor

The Imo State Government has issued a final and uncompromising notice to all individuals and groups who erected illegal structures at Ishiuzo Egbu and Umuawaka, Awaka, in Owerri North, under the reserved 330KVA national grid corridor linking the Alaoji Transmission Station to the Egbu Transmission Station.

According to the notice released through the Owerri Capital Development Authority, affected occupants have seven days from the date of publication to pull down the structures on their own. At the expiration of the deadline, the state government will move in, demolish the buildings without further warning, and recover the full cost of the exercise from the owners.

The government made it clear that the affected areas are protected infrastructure corridors critical to national power transmission and public safety, and that any form of encroachment is unlawful and reckless.

The notice, jointly signed by the Office of the Governor on Monitoring and Compliance and the General Manager of the Owerri Capital Development Authority, stressed that the state will no longer tolerate violations of planning laws or actions that endanger lives and public assets.

The Imo State Government reaffirmed its resolve to enforce the law, protect public safety, and pursue orderly development across the state, warning that defiance will attract decisive consequences.
