Former Governor of Imo State, Dr. Ikedi Ohakim, has declared that there is no viable alternative to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu ahead of the 2027 general elections, insisting that the country would have collapsed if the President had failed to remove the fuel subsidy.
Ohakim made the assertion at his country home in Owerri while receiving members of the Renewed Hope Ambassadors, Imo State Chapter, who paid him a courtesy visit as part of their ongoing stakeholder engagement across the state.
The delegation was led by the Imo State Coordinator of the group, Rt. Hon. Goodluck Opiah, and was attended by political leaders and stakeholders from Isiala Mbano LGA, including former First Lady of Imo State, Barr. Chioma Ohakim; former Speaker of the Imo State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Collins Chiji; Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Hon. Chief (Mrs.) Ruby Emele; Commissioner for Finance, Hon. Chuck Chukwuemeka; former Vice Chancellor of Imo State University, Prof. Osy Nwebo; and other party leaders and community representatives.
Speaking during the visit, Opiah said the Renewed Hope Ambassadors were mandated by President Tinubu to engage key leaders across Imo State and enlighten the public on the administration’s policies and reforms.

“We are here to deliver the message of the Renewed Hope Agenda. The President is doing a lot, but many people do not yet fully understand the scope and impact of his reforms. As respected leaders, we believe you will help us take this message to the grassroots,” Opiah said.
Responding, Ohakim expressed appreciation for the visit and reaffirmed his support for the Tinubu administration, describing the President’s economic reforms as bold and necessary.
“Nigeria is a very complicated country to govern. If President Tinubu had not removed the fuel subsidy, Nigeria would have collapsed. The previous system was unsustainable, and the courage to take that decision saved the country,” he said.
Ohakim also commended Opiah’s leadership qualities and loyalty, recalling his role during his tenure as governor, and pledged to mobilise support for the President across Isiala Mbano and the wider Okigwe Zone.
“We will deliver from the ward to the national level. There is no alternative to Mr. President in 2027,” he added.
Other leaders from Isiala Mbano also pledged their support for the APC-led federal government and the Renewed Hope Agenda. Prof. Nwebo said the people of the area were united behind President Tinubu and would continue to support the party from the local to the federal level.
The Chairman of Isiala Mbano Local Government Area, Hon. Chika Okoroike, assured the delegation of the readiness of the area to mobilise support, noting that the local government was fully aligned with the objectives of the Renewed Hope Ambassadors.
The visit forms part of ongoing efforts by the Renewed Hope Ambassadors to strengthen grassroots mobilisation and stakeholder alignment in support of President Tinubu’s policies.
