Imo Labour Party Chairman, Chief Innocent NwaDavid, Formally Joins ADC

By Ogemdi Victor

The Imo State Chairman of the Labour Party, Hon. Chief Innocent NwaDavid, has officially registered as a member of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), a development widely regarded as a major political realignment in the state.

Chief NwaDavid defected to the ADC on 6th January, formalizing his membership at his ward in Okpofe, at the ADC Local Government Area (LGA) office in Ezinihitte Mbaise, where he was duly registered and issued an ADC membership card.

The historic registration was witnessed by the Imo State Chairman of the ADC, Professor James Okoroma, who described the defection as a significant boost to the party’s growing strength and acceptance across Imo State. Prof. Okoroma warmly welcomed Chief NwaDavid into the ADC family, commending his decision to align with what he described as a disciplined, people oriented, and ideologically driven political platform.

Also present at the event was the ADC Ezinihitte Mbaise LGA Chairman, Hon. Chijioke Modestus Njoku, who expressed optimism that Chief NwaDavid’s entry into the party would further strengthen the ADC’s grassroots structure and enhance its political capacity within the LGA and beyond.

Other party leaders who witnessed the registration included Chief Macdonald Amadi, State Publicity Secretary; Hon. Chidi Ekechi, State Deputy Youth Leader; Hon. Nzerem Chidiebere, Owerri Zonal Youth Leader, as well as ward and LGA party officials.

Speaking after receiving his ADC membership card, Chief Innocent NwaDavid stated that his decision to defect was informed by the ADC’s commitment to internal democracy, transparency, and inclusive governance. He pledged his total support for the party’s vision and leadership, assuring members of his readiness to contribute meaningfully to the growth and success of the ADC in Imo State.

The defection further underscores the ongoing consolidation of the ADC in Imo State and reflects the party’s increasing appeal to political leaders seeking a credible, progressive, and people-centered platform.
