Uzodinma Wins Leadership Newspaper Governor of the Year Award

The creme of Nigerian society will on Thursday converge on Abuja as the Imo State Governor and Chairman of Progressive Governors Forum, Senator Hope Uzodimma is bestowed with the Governor of the Year Award by the Leadership Newspapers.

 

The Board and management of the flagship newspaper disclosed that Uzodimma was selected as the Governor of the Year  based on his transparent and transformative leadership, which has impacted Imo State in the last six years.

 

In a letter to the governor, by the Leadership Group Limited, Uzodimma was told that his impactful leadership both in the state and nstionally won him the award.

 

In the letter signed by the Senior Vice Chairman/ Editor in Chief of the group, Azubuike Ishiekwene, it was further explained that what made the award unique was that it was unsolicited by Uzodimma but was a collective decision of the group after a careful analysis of the performance of the governor.

 

Ishiekwene announced that the award will be bestowed on the governor on Thursday, February 12th, at the Bola Ahmed Tinubu International Conference Centre, Abuja, by noon.

 

Speaking on the upcoming award, the Imo State Commissioner for Information, Public Orientation and Strategy, Hon Declan Emelumba, said the government was pleasantly excited that the governor was nominated for the award.

 

Emelumba noted that although many reputable media houses and institutions have in the past honoured the governor, the award by Leadership Newspapers was significant because its coincidence with the 50th anniversary of the creation of the State where Uzodimma was publicly acknowledged as the father of modern Imo State based on his superlative and verifiable achievements in office.

 

The Commissioner enjoined Imo sons and daughters resident in Abuja to troop out enmasse to the venue of the event to support their governor as he receives the award
