A frontline House of Assembly hopeful for Ngor Okpala State Constituency under the platform of the Action Peoples Party (APP), Cajetan Duke, has declared that the people of Ngor Okpala deserve more than routine political representation, insisting that what the constituency urgently needs is a courageous and effective voice capable of projecting its collective interests and aspirations to the highest levels of governance in the state.

Addressing newsmen in Owerri, Duke stated that his aspiration to represent the constituency in the State House of Assembly is driven by a genuine desire to restore visibility, relevance and purposeful advocacy for the people of Ngor Okpala. According to him, legislative engagement must transcend the mere occupation of political office and instead focus on defending the welfare, dignity and future of the people.
He noted that despite the enormous human and economic potential of Ngor Okpala, the constituency has continued to grapple with inadequate infrastructure, limited economic opportunities and insufficient government attention in critical sectors affecting the wellbeing of the people. He stressed that the resilient and enterprising people of Ngor Okpala deserve a representative who is bold, courageous and proactive in championing their cause. He maintained that the persistent lack of government presence in the area is more a function of ineffective representation than outright neglect.
According to the former State Publicity Secretary of the Action Peoples Party, “Ngor Okpala deserves a voice, not mere representation.” Duke added that his mission is to amplify the concerns, aspirations and developmental needs of the constituency through strategic engagement, intensive advocacy and people-oriented legislation. He maintained that the era of passive representation must give way to responsive leadership rooted in courage, competence and accountability.
Duke further argued that the demands of legislative representation require experience, clarity of thought and effective communication skills. According to him, “At this point in our history, Ngor Okpala does not deserve a lawmaker who will spend two years learning how to speak and understand legislative language. It is time to send someone who knows how to speak, when to speak and what to speak. Legislative assignment is not for all comers.” He maintained that effective representation requires courage, capacity, strategic thinking and a proper understanding of legislative engagement and advocacy.
The House of Assembly hopeful further explained that his legislative agenda would go beyond the traditional responsibilities of lawmaking to include the aggressive pursuit of development opportunities, strategic communication of the constituency’s needs and sustained collaboration with relevant stakeholders for the advancement of the area. He emphasized that effective representation must produce measurable impact in the lives of ordinary citizens, particularly youths, women and rural dwellers.
Speaking on his priorities, Duke highlighted youth empowerment, rural infrastructure, education, agriculture and economic inclusion as key areas that would receive urgent legislative attention through parliamentary frameworks and intergovernmental collaboration if elected. He also pledged to maintain regular engagement with constituents to ensure that the voices of the people remain central to governance and policy advocacy.
While calling for unity and collective commitment towards building a better future for the constituency, Duke expressed confidence that Ngor Okpala can witness a new era of growth and political relevance through visionary and people-focused representation. He urged the people to remain hopeful and actively participate in the democratic process, insisting that the 2027 elections present a critical opportunity to redefine leadership and reposition Ngor Okpala for sustainable progress and development
