The Imo State Coordinator of the Renewed Hope Ambassadors (RHA), Rt. Hon. Goodluck Opiah, has cautioned Ndigbo against what he described as “unserious characters” ahead of the 2027 general elections, urging the people to remain focused on credible leadership and verifiable performance.
Opiah gave the warning on Friday while leading a high-powered delegation of the Renewed Hope Ambassadors to Isiala Mbano Local Government Area for the inauguration of ward coordinators of the group. The event, held at the Isiala Mbano Council Hall, attracted a large gathering of political leaders, party faithful, government officials, community leaders, youths, and business stakeholders.
According to Opiah, the period is not one for empty promises or political deception. He stressed that leadership must be measured by capacity, character, and track record, noting that the Renewed Hope Ambassadors were deliberately structured to reflect these values.
“Our LGA coordinators are men of character and capacity,” he said. “What we have witnessed today reflects what we want in the Renewed Hope Ambassadors – quality, integrity, and commitment to service. It also reflects the leadership qualities of Chief Ogemdi Ibeawuchi, whose integrity has been widely attested to by leaders across the LGA.”
Opiah highlighted key achievements of the administration of Bola Ahmed Tinubu, particularly in education, finance, agriculture, and security. He emphasized that the removal of fuel subsidy was not designed to punish Nigerians but to rescue the economy.

“From 1999 to 2023, successive presidents wanted to remove fuel subsidy but lacked the courage. Today, that difficult but necessary decision has freed resources now shared across all tiers of government,” he said, adding that this explains the surge in infrastructural and educational investments by states, including Imo State under Hope Uzodimma.
Opiah highlighted the impact of the Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND), describing it as a landmark intervention in human capital development.
He disclosed that as of February 2026, NELFUND had supported over 983,000 Nigerian students, with more than ₦183.89 billion disbursed, comprising ₦107 billion for tuition fees and ₦76.8 billion for upkeep allowances, across over 265 tertiary institutions nationwide. He further noted that total applications exceeded 1.19 million by late 2025.
“The President established NELFUND to ensure that no Nigerian child is denied education because of lack of funds. This is a future-defining policy that must be protected,” Opiah stated.
He clarified that the Renewed Hope Ambassadors are not a political party but disciplined and loyal members of the All Progressives Congress, serving as agents of advocacy, enlightenment, and mobilisation in support of party policies and government programmes.
“Our duty is to sell the policies of the President and the leadership of our party at all levels. Many of these policies are misunderstood or deliberately misrepresented, yet the results are visible across sectors,” he said.
Opiah was accompanied on the visit by several LGA coordinators and party leaders, including Rt. Hon. Jonas Okeke (Ihitte-Uboma), Maj. Chidi Ohanyere (rtd) (Oguta), Hon. Martin Ejiogu (Isu), Rt. Hon. Donatus Ozoemena (Oru West), Hon. Sir Collins Ughalaa, Special Adviser to the Governor on Public Orientation, Hon. Achor Ahiwgbu (Okigwe), Hon. Bede Ikeaka (Ideato South), Hon. Osinachi Amako (Owerri West), Hon. Paul Ajunwa (Owerri Municipal), Hon. Udochukwu (Obowo), among others.
Earlier, the Isiala Mbano LGA Coordinator of the Renewed Hope Ambassadors, Ogemdi Ibeawuchi, welcomed the delegation and explained that the ward coordinators were carefully selected after thorough screening to effectively propagate the Renewed Hope message at the grassroots.
He reaffirmed the group’s loyalty to President Tinubu, Governor Uzodimma, the APC leadership, and the RHA state coordinator, pledging that the ward coordinators would not only mobilise support but also provide feedback to strengthen the movement.
Prominent leaders from Isiala Mbano who graced the event included former Governor of Imo State, Ikedi Ohakim, and his wife, Ambassador Chioma Ohakim; Hon. Princess Miriam Onuoha, member representing Okigwe North Federal Constituency; and Hon. Sam Osuji, Deputy Majority Leader of the Imo State House of Assembly.
Speaking, Ohakim described Nigeria before 2023 as “a sinking ship” which, according to him, President Tinubu has steadied. He described the Renewed Hope Ambassadors as a philosophy of unity and love, urging the newly inaugurated coordinators to see themselves as evangelisers of the policies and achievements of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
The highlight of the event was the formal inauguration of 12 ward coordinators for Isiala Mbano LGA by Chief Ibeawuchi. The coordinators include professionals drawn from law, engineering, and entrepreneurship, underscoring what leaders described as a capacity-driven approach.
The APC Chairman in Isiala Mbano LGA, C.Y. Obichendu, and the Isiala Mbano LGA Chairman, Chika Okoroike, congratulated the ward coordinators and assured full cooperation with the Renewed Hope Ambassadors to deliver the APC in future elections.
The event ended with a unanimous affirmation by party leaders and stakeholders that Isiala Mbano LGA remains firmly aligned with the Renewed Hope Agenda and the leadership of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
