Imo Gets Additional Fed. University

The Federal Government of Nigeria under the leadership of President Ahmed Bola Tinubu has listed Federal University Okigwe amongst the newly approved Universities in the federation.

 

The approval, which is part of the government’s commitment to expanding access to quality tertiary education across the country, has been greeted with excitement and celebration by the people of state, Okigwe Zone in particular who have clamored for the University over a long period.

According to community leaders, the establishment of the university represents not only a fulfillment of a long-standing dream but also a catalyst for educational advancement and economic development in the region.

The Federal University Okigwe is expected to commence academic activities soon in line with the National Universities Commission (NUC) guidelines, with details on its take-off arrangements and pioneer management to be announced in due course.

With the new University, Imo State now have federal Universities, two polytechnics, two State Universities amongst other tertiary Institutions.
