As Christians embark on Lent, the member representing Ideato South State Constituency in the Imo legislative chamber, Rt. Hon. Engr. Johnson Iheonukara Duru (Dikeoha), has extended his felicitations to the Christian Faithful in Ideato South on the commencement of this year’s Leten Season.
The lawmaker enjoined Christians who join their counterparts worldwide to observe 40-day fast, to emulate the worthy example of Jesus Christ.
He reminded them of the significance of the period and what it holds for our faith and our society.

He urged them to intensify love, brotherliness and concern for the less privileged members of their communities in order to strengthen the bond together.
“On behalf of my family, I extend warm greetings to all Christians faithful in Ideato South and of course, the entire Ideato nation on the occasion of Ash Wednesday and the commencement of Lent.
“The observance of Ash Wednesday and the Lenten season presents a timely opportunity for self-reflection, repentance, spiritual growth, renewal, and learning to love and be compassionate like Jesus Christ in our daily lives.
“It is a time when we are reminded to grieve for our sins and the sins of our nation and to seek the face of the Lord for forgiveness and restoration.
“During this time of self-examination and sacrifice, we are called to contemplate the ways in which we can contribute to the well-being of others, as Christ, our Lord, will do.
“As we embark on this Lenten journey, let our hearts be drawn to the plight of many who struggle to make ends meet, facing financial uncertainty and limited access to basic needs.
“This is wishing you all a spirit-filled successful Lenten Season”.
