The National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN), Imo State Chapter, ably led by Comrade Akuchie Stephen, has received widespread commendation following the successful Humanitarian & Advocacy Visit to the Owerri Correctional Center held today.
In a remarkable demonstration of compassion and responsible leadership, the Council carried out its “Give Love” programme — a Valentine outreach dedicated to restoring hope, dignity, and emotional support to inmates. Rather than celebrating the day with mere festivities, the youth body chose a higher path of service by reaching out to those often forgotten by society.
The visit featured encouragement sessions, advocacy messages on rehabilitation and reintegration, and gestures of goodwill aimed at reassuring inmates that they remain valued members of the community with a future worth rebuilding.
Observers and stakeholders have praised the initiative, noting that it reflects the true meaning of Valentine’s Day — love expressed through sacrifice, empathy, and social responsibility. The programme also reinforces the role of young people as agents of positive change and moral leadership in society.
Under the leadership of Comrade Akuchie Stephen, the NYCN Imo State Chapter continues to set a strong example of purposeful youth engagement, demonstrating that leadership is not merely about position but about impact.
Indeed, the outreach has left a lasting impression, reminding society that kindness has the power to reform hearts and restore hope.
